The SIPUGday, the annual meeting of data, information and system suppliers, was again a complete success this year. Around 170 industry representatives enjoyed a dinner under the motto “Africa – emotions, facts and chances” and had exciting conversations in a relaxed networking atmosphere.
They got entertained by the African band “Black Earth”.  SIPUG is very thankful for each of the many sponsors enabling the dinner with their financial contribution.

For the thematic part on the next day, almost 200 interested people from the industry gathered again. They informed themselves at the 14 exhibition stands, several StartUp booths  and of course visited the exciting presentations of the conference program. Extended Networking breaks let to many good and intensive discussion among all participants, which is an important aspect of the event.

Debra Walton (Thomson Reuters) presented „The human side of AI“ and Markus Bachmann (Microsoft Switzerland) the „Cloud demystified – enabling innovation in a trusted way”. The afternoon started with a Pitch of several start-ups before Ricardo Gomez-Ulmke (Solace) pointed out solutions in the area of “Data Distribution on a Global Scale” where he showed similarities from self driving cars to the market data area. The successful SIPUGday 2018 concluded with an exciting outlook by Damir Bogdan (Actvide) to “Banking – 10 years ahead” and a discussion round about “Innovation – vision and/or reality? chaired by SIPUGday manager Frank Verstraeten.

The SIPUGday is interested in having a wide variety of participants and this year had several large exchanges participating at the event, next to all major data vendors and an increasing number of StartUp’s. It is the mix which creates the unique and open atmosphere inspiring the people throughout the day.

The SIPUGday focuses on market data and related technologies, services and products in the front, back and middle office. Regulations and their impact on data are also a topic for our audience. Typical visitors are market data managers, procurement and IT specialists from the financial and commodities industries in Switzerland and Liechtenstein.

The main distinguishing feature to similar events is our concept to bring own speakers with topics to the event which we believe will be relevant to all of us, whether you are a customer or a supplier. Extended networking breaks are ideal so that everyone can get in touch with colleagues or suppliers, which is a basic goal of the SIPUGday.  It has grown since 2011 until today to almost 200 participants.
